Current Career Opportunities:
Bilingual Energy and Sustainability Specialist
Are you a bilingual individual with a passion for building energy efficiency and helping small businesses? Would you like to move the needle on sustainability and social equity issues while working with a dynamic team that believes strongly in work-life balance?
We are Environmental Innovations, Inc., a certified woman-owned B Corp and California Green Business dedicated to helping businesses, institutions, government and individuals innovate beyond the status quo toward more equitable and sustainable solutions that benefit people, planet and profit. We turn environmental challenges into sustainability opportunities.
Primary Responsibilities
The primary role of the Bilingual Energy and Sustainability Specialist is to help small and medium sized businesses take advantage of government and utility funded resources. Providing these resources requires great people skills and is mostly done in person. Key responsibilities include recruitment of businesses to participate in energy efficiency upgrades through energy assessments and contractor referrals. Additionally, assist businesses to gain certification through the California Green Business Network. In particular, this position will focus on providing these services to auto repair and auto body shops so experience in this industry is a plus. This person will also provide pollution prevention technical assistance to businesses. Friendly, organized, outgoing people are encouraged to apply! Native speakers of languages other than English are especially encouraged to apply!
In an average week the Specialist will:
- Recruit, visit in person, and assess business facilities for eligibility to receive upgrades such as lighting retrofits, HVAC maintenance and more. While on the job training is available, we encourage those with a knack for facilities and an interest in energy efficient equipment to apply, in addition to pollution prevention technical assistance for small businesses, especially auto repair and auto body shops.
- Track, summarize, and present your progress to your Director and your client — while the businesses you work with might not be, you must be highly organized and capable of learning and navigating multiple software platforms.
- Assist a subset of those businesses to go on to get Certified as Green Businesses by either referring them to a local coordinator or assisting them yourself.
- Track a cohort of auto repair and auto body shops through pollution prevention changes.
- Support the Regional Director and Program Coordinator with other tasks as needed, including tracking, invoicing, managing inventory, reporting, and presenting.
- Engage with business associations and community based organizations that can help your business recruitment efforts
Additional Requirements
- Fluency in at least one language other than English
- Reliable transportation (fuel efficiency recommended, this position will involve substantial car travel)
As a growing company and a certified B Corp, full time employees at Environmental Innovations enjoy additional benefits, including:
- 40% (or more) remote work + mileage reimbursement for travel (except to the office)
- Employer matched 401(k) after one year
- Full medical and dental benefits
- Bonus profit share during profitable years
- 15 days PTO + 13 holidays
- Fun and friendly team to grow with!
Diversity is a core value at Environmental Innovations. We are passionate about building and sustaining an inclusive and equitable working and learning environment. We believe every member on our team enriches our diversity by exposing us to a broad range of ways to understand and engage with the world, identify challenges, and to discover, design and deliver solutions. We encourage Black, Brown, Indigenous, Persons of Color (BBIPOC) and multilingual persons to apply.
